Is This Right for You?

"You don't have to be facing a crisis to benefit from a meaningful conversation."

Deciding to reach out to someone you have never met can bring a natural wave of hesitation. It is completely normal to wonder: *Is my situation important enough? Am I overreacting? Do I really need this service, or should I just handle it on my own?*

Many people believe that companion services or dedicated listening are reserved only for times of extreme grief, physical isolation, or major personal crises. But the truth is, you do not need to be in a crisis to benefit from an unhurried, meaningful conversation.

Sometimes, we simply need a neutral, independent person—someone outside of our daily circle of family, friends, or work colleagues—to listen without judgment and offer a fresh perspective. If you are questioning whether My One Cent Worth aligns with your needs, this guide is designed to bring you clarity.

This May Be Right For You If...

Scenarios where companionship brings clarity.

My companion sessions are highly adaptable, but they are particularly valuable if you find yourself in any of the following circumstances:

  • You're Facing an Important Decision: Whether navigating a business crossroads, a career change, or a personal dilemma, talking it through out loud helps organize your thoughts and isolate what truly matters.
  • You Feel Lonely or Isolated: Modern life in Singapore can feel disconnected. If you miss having regular, deep, or interesting conversations with someone who has time for you, this provides a warm, respectful bridge.
  • You Need Someone Independent to Listen: Family members and close friends have their own opinions and emotional stakes in your life. Speaking with a neutral companion allows you to share thoughts without straining personal ties.
  • You're Caring for an Ageing Parent: Caregiving is deeply rewarding but emotionally exhausting. Having a safe, confidential space to speak about your stresses, guilt, or worries helps you recharge.
  • You're Adjusting to Retirement: Leaving a career of several decades can bring a disorienting loss of identity and routine. Talking through this shift helps you reshape your days and identify new purposes (explore our Retirement Companion services).
  • You're Recovering After an Illness: Stays in hospitals can be highly isolating. Having a friendly face visit to talk about books, share stories, or sit in quiet companionship lifts spirits and aids recovery (read about Hospital Companion Visits).
  • You Feel Stuck in Life: If you find yourself in a quiet rut or searching for a fresh perspective, a grounded conversation based on life experience can spark clarity.
  • You Simply Want a Genuine Conversation: No agendas, no targets. Just two people sitting down for an honest, unhurried, and interesting chat.

If these points resonate with your current path, you can explore what we focus on in detail in Who I Can Help.

This May Not Be Right For You If...

Understanding our boundaries.

Out of respect for your well-being and safety, it is vital to state clearly what My One Cent Worth does not offer. This service is not suitable, and should not be used as a replacement, for:

Not Clinical Therapy: I do not treat diagnosed mental health disorders, severe clinical anxiety, or chronic depression.
Not Professional Counselling: I do not offer structured crisis intervention, trauma therapy, or clinical behavior coaching.
Not Medical Advice: I do not provide diagnostic assessments, medical care plans, or physical health instructions.
Not Emergency Support: If you are in immediate distress or facing a self-harm crisis, please reach out to emergency services or helplines.
Not Legal or Financial Advice: While we can discuss career dilemmas or business histories, I do not provide legal representations or financial planning services.

My One Cent Worth is designed to be a companion space—one built on active presence, life experience, and peer connection. For a full breakdown of what is excluded, please review our What to Expect Page or read Why Choose My One Cent Worth.

No Script Required

Arriving exactly as you are.

A very common worry is: *What if I sit down and don't know what to say? What if my thoughts are too messy to explain?*

I want to reassure you: **you do not need to have everything figured out before we meet.** You do not need to prepare a summary, outline your problems, or practice what you want to say.

Many of the most meaningful sessions begin with a simple: *"I'm not quite sure where to start."* That is perfectly okay. We sit down, have a warm cup of coffee or tea, and let the conversation naturally unfold. We might start by talking about the weather, local food, or a book, and naturally transition into what is truly occupying your mind. There is no expectation, no timeline, and no pressure to perform.

One Session Can Be Enough

No long-term commitments.

Unlike structured programs that require a commitment to a set number of weeks or modules, My One Cent Worth operates entirely on your terms.

For many individuals, **a single, focused conversation is enough.** They talk through a critical decision, release a worry they have been carrying, feel heard, and walk away with the clarity they need to move forward. They do not need to book again, and there is never any follow-up pressure from my end.

Other individuals choose to meet regularly, while some return months later when they face a new transition or simply feel the need to talk. Both approaches are perfectly fine. The structure is yours to define. To understand how this dynamic can bring relief, read our philosophy on How Conversations Can Change Lives and explore Why Conversations Matter.

My Invitation

A personal note from Tashi.

If you are reading this and feeling a quiet tug of recognition, I invite you to reach out. You do not need to wait until your worries become unbearable, and you do not need to justify why you want to talk.

We can meet in whatever setting makes you feel most at ease. We can sit down for coffee in a quiet cafe corner, take a gentle walk through one of Singapore's parks, or arrange a visit in a hospital room, retirement home, or the comfort of your own living room.

There is no clinical intake, no judgment, and no expectations. Just a genuine, unhurried space for one human being to listen to another. You can review my transparent rates on the Pricing Page to see how I package these sessions.
